Refugees

The Halifax Region United Baptist Association does not itself sponsor Refugees, but it does support the refugee ministries of member churches both financially and through provision of advice and connecting people with those who can help.

If your church is considering sponsoring a refugee or refugee family, we may be able to put you in touch with other churches who have experience with this process and may be able to provide information about how the refugee sponsorship process works, and the responsibilities that are required according to Immigration Refugees & Citizenship Canada (IRCC), including both the settlement tasks and the financial requirements.  Please contact the HRUBA Council at This email address is being protected from spambots. The most useful point of reference will be the Website of our partner organization, the Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada, Official Website of the CBAC (baptist-atlantic.ca).

The CBAC has a web page devoted entirely to refugees, including sponsorship, which includes a number of excellent resource materials and a Handbook for Refugee Sponsorship.  See Intercultural Ministries - Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada (baptist-atlantic.ca)

The CBAC also has a person who can help with Refugee enquiries:
